I was having a really tough morning. I was dragged down by the cares of this world, weighed down about wanting to be somewhere else. I thought to myself, Why am I here? The mundane is killing me. My youngest daughter by God’s grace, went upstairs to her room and grabbed her cd player.
She picked out an old Christian rock CD that was in my stack of CDs. I was sitting on the couch, thinking that what I am doing is not significant. Physically zapped of energy from not sleeping from taking care of kiddos with bad dreams. Internally, I was struggling with memories of conflicts I recently had with a loved one. All of a sudden, I hear this classic Christian rock song blasting at me.
Got no place to run, gotta look up to see the bottom No visible support - no one there you can lean on You're all on your own - you know it's sink or swim There is no doubt about it, you have to look to Him
When you think you've had enough No more you can do When you feel like giving up Deadline is in view When your time is almost gone You haven't got a clue Now's the time to turn your face
You're in the right place - trusting only Him You're in the right place - kick back and just depend You're in the right place - to see what He can do You're in the right place - He will come through
It was a song from Petra called Right Place. I looked at my daughter dancing around the room to the rock music, which is super cute. Slowly, like waking up from a deep sleep, I hear the voice of the Lord say to me, My daughter, you are in the right place. I questioned, Am I really in the right place? It seems like there is so much going on around me, I feel alone and displaced. The songs chorus started blaring again, “YOUR IN THE RIGHT PLACE!” The truth of the words sank in. I am not supposed to be anywhere else. I am supposed to be right here. I have been called to take care of my children and the needs of my family and friends. 1 Thessalonians 5:24 (ESV) He who calls you is faithful; he will surely do it. God has called me to this, and He will give me the strength I need for each day. Though I am going through a time of conflict, does not mean I am in a wrong place. God says that I am right where I am supposed to be. In that realization, peace and joy came.
In the times that you are following the Lord, but there is struggle and conflict in your life, listen to the Lord and ask him. Am I in the right place? Is this where you want me to be? If the answer is NO, run away from that place. Ask the Lord, how to be on right path. If he says, Yes! You are in the right place! Lift up your head, my sister, and run with freedom toward the work that God has given you to do. In the story of the prodigal son, the father said to the older moping son who did not stray from him. “My son, you are always with me, and everything I have is yours.” Luke 15:31 (ESV) Everything that God has, WHICH IS EVERYTHING, is ours in Christ Jesus when we are his children. All we have to do is ask him. Dear sisters, may we not live like paupers without a home, but let us live like princesses we are, heirs to the king, in the freedom and joy of belonging to the Father who loves us and delights in us when we follow him.
Your worth is immeasurable. You have been bought with a price. You are loved.
